Biography
Deidre Brin leads the development of DIG, an archaeological data publishing initiative at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology Press, and manages the Digital Archaeology Lab at Cotsen. She received her Bachelors in Anthropology, focusing in Archaeology, and worked on archaeological projects in Egypt, Japan, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), and Ethiopia for several years before completing an MLIS from the Information Studies program at UCLA. Her experience managing data and preparing research for publication while working on projects, coupled with the foundation in information science, technology, and user experience, place her in a unique position to build innovative scholarly publishing services and research data management programs.
She can help you with software and equipment for research, data management best practices, planning for the publication and preservation of your research data, depositing your data in a preservation repository, building a database, building a portfolio or project website, and connecting you to resources such as technologists with specific expertise and equipment available through campus.
